CUSTOM FURNITURE PROCESS

Phase 1 Design

The design phase of custom furniture development is a collaboration between the client and Boden Mills. Often the client has a vision of the piece of furniture desired, but the details of how that vision can be practically realized in wood have to be fleshed out. After consultation meetings, Boden Mills will produce a detailed design (CAD files and often 3D printed models) and price estimate for review/approval by the client. Subsequent changes for an approved design will be handled via a change order process to avoid project cost or schedule surprises.

If the client is providing the wood material (eg, from a tree that had to be taken down on their property), Boden Mills works with the wood processing provider for drying, transportation and other preparation logistics.

As part of the design process, Boden Mills provides a range of possible ‘finishes’ from which the client chooses.

Phase 2 Fabrication

Once there is a client-approved design and deposit paid, Boden Mills will fabricate the desired piece of furniture, providing periodic photo updates to keep the client aware of project status.

Phase 3 Delivery

Custom Furniture can be shipped, picked up at the Boden Mills shop in Monrovia, or delivered (local sites only).
